England Furniture: Plant 6 Achieves 10 Years with No Lost Time Accidents

On June 9, 2014, England Furniture’s Plant 6 attained a significant safety milestone by going 10 years without a time lost accident. Given the nature of the work – and the type of equipment used at Plant 6, our woodcutting facility – England Furniture considers this a proud and huge achievement. Plant Manager (Jerry Blair), and the England Furniture employees at this plant, deserve our recognition of a job well done.

Plant 6 personnel enjoyed a steak lunch at the Plant 8 cafeteria, the receipt of a WOW tee-shirt commemorating the date, individual monetary rewards, and a drawing for additional furniture prizes.  Hearty expressions of appreciation from England Furniture management accompanied the festivities.  Judging by the pictures taken at the meal, everyone welcomed a chance to take a break from the daily routine and to get ready to work toward the next no lost time goal of 11 years. We are all keeping our fingers crossed for Jerry and his crew. Go Plant 6!

England Furniture Reviews Las Vegas Winter Market

England Furniture doubled their showroom space for this year’s Las Vegas Winter Market. The new showroom made its’ debut at Winter Market on Sunday, January 18 and it ran through Thursday, January 22, 2015. The increase brought England Furniture up to 15,000 square feet in Building B.

The Market is one of “the most diverse and unique industry sales and marketing platform in the United States.” It is located in one of the world’s most accessible and exciting cities and it connects showrooms and exhibitors with an unprecedented cross-section of buyers throughout three distinct but overlapping industries: furniture, home décor and gift.

England Furniture President Otis Sawyer said traffic was “great” during the Winter Market. The Las Vegas Market reported that the Winter Market registered the highest attendance numbers in the Market’s nearly 10-year history, with overall growth of 11% over Winter 2014.

Sawyer also felt that the dealers were in a good mood and looking for domestic sources. “The port strike makes dealers appreciate domestic sources even more,” Sawyer said. “We doubled our showroom space and came out with more frames for the West Coast.”

“We’re delighted that England has committed to a larger space with us in Las Vegas,” said Craig Staack, vice president of home furnishings leasing for International Market Centers. “With the kind of product they have and the sheer variety of styles and designs, doubling their space was warranted. They have a great product and now they have the proper backdrop to showcase it.”

england-furniture-annual-ade-golf-scramble-013

On September 18, 2014, England Furniture vendors, suppliers, employees, and sales reps will join with those who generally love golf and will gather at the Woodlake Golf Resort in Tazewell, TN, to take part in the England Furniture 25th Annual ADE Golf Scramble.

The monies generated by the golfing event will be placed in the ADE Foundation, an entity created to disperse funds to charities that seek the good of the local community. Previous recipients have included the American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, Walter State Community College scholarships, and The Alpha School. Funds from the England Furniture Annual ADE Golf Scrambles have helped those affected by weather related catastrophes, they assisted in buying school supplies for elementary school students, and the funds generated have helped with the distribution of Christmas baskets to local under-privileged persons. Funds are used to aid the local community and whether they are given to employees or non-employees.

On Thursday, September 18, teams will gather at the Woodlake for two rounds of golf. Lunch will be provided and prizes will be awarded at the end of round two. For half of England Furniture’s existence, this event has been held in late summer to provide a day of friendly competition with industry friends, while, at the same time, assuring that funds will be available to help individuals in our community.

Many thanks to the loyal patrons who supported the Arnold Dwight England Golf Scramble year after year! Fore!
